 VIDEO | ‘Israel is a new Third Reich and that’s how its flag should look’

On 14 April, Polish lawmaker Konrad Berkowicz displayed a flag that merged Israel’s with a swastika during a session in parliament, while accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.

Berkowicz, vice-chair of the far-right KORWiN party, used the parliamentary floor to describe Israel as “the new Third Reich,” citing reports including the use of white phosphorus munitions. The act drew immediate condemnation from Israel’s embassy in Warsaw, which called it an “antisemitic horror,” while Poland’s Foreign Ministry described it as deeply offensive to Holocaust memory, and parliamentary leadership demanded disciplinary measures.

Following the backlash, Berkowicz reiterated his accusations online and doubling down on his claims.
