Russia Suffers A Humiliating Defeat In Africa
In Mali, rebels have driven Russian mercenaries out of key strongholds. The Russian Defense Ministry’s “African Corps” has now abandoned its third base in the north of the country.
According to Le Monde, Russian mercenaries and the local junta’s army began withdrawing from Aguelhok without a fight. Prior to this, they had left Tessalit and Kidal.
This occurred following a massive attack by jihadists and Tuaregs, which was one of the largest in recent years.
Following Prigozhin’s mutiny, the Kremlin replaced the Wagner Group with the “African Corps,” which is under the control of the Ministry of Defense.
Moscow has been trying to maintain its influence in Africa, but now the Russians are rapidly losing ground even there.
