The Russian Security Council made a statement this week, warning that the US could use ceasefire negotiations as a cover for a ground attack

Iran’s military said on 16 April that orders have been given for “not a single” US or Israeli soldier to be left alive in the event that Washington launches a ground operation against the Islamic Republic.

“An order has been issued by the Iranian army’s commander-in-chief that in case of ground invasion, decisive actions will have to be taken,” army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia was quoted as saying by IRNA.

Akraminia added that Iranian army chief Amir Khatami “emphasized that not a single aggressor should survive.”

His comments came after US officials told the Washington Post that the Pentagon was still considering “ground operations” and additional airstrikes against Iran if the ceasefire fails to hold.

“The Pentagon is sending thousands of additional troops into the [region] in the coming days,” the report said, adding that Washington is “considering the possibility of additional strikes or ground operations if a fragile ceasefire does not hold.”
