Netanyahu ‘Frustrated’ With Mossad Over Failed Color Revolution Attempt In Iran: Report
The Israeli prime minister acknowledged that bombing would not lead to regime change in Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embraced a Mossad plan to spark a popular uprising at the start of the Iran war and is now “frustrated” that the plan has failed, the New York Times (NYT) reported on 22 March.
“Behind the scenes,” the NYT report said, Netanyahu “has expressed frustration that Mossad’s promises to foment revolt in Iran have not materialized.”
Citing current and former US and Israeli intelligence officials, NYT wrote that Netanyahu discussed the plan with US President Donald Trump while encouraging him to go to war against Iran.
US and Israeli officials told NYT they now wonder if regime change is possible and believe that conditions are not right for a popular uprising.
US and Israeli intelligence already helped spark protests and violent riots in the Islamic Republic in early January, as a prelude to launching the war in late February.
