Prominent US broadcaster Tucker Carlson has sharply condemned the British government’s decision to ban the direct action group Palestine Action, accusing them of sliding into political repression over criticism of Israel.
In an interview with the BBC, Carlson dismissed the authority of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, claiming he does not meaningfully control the country’s decision-making. Pressed by presenter Victoria Derbyshire, the former Fox News host framed the move as part of a broader pattern of western subservience. Carlson went further, asserting that both Starmer and Donald Trump are beholden to forces that dictate policy on Israel, alleging that public support for Palestine Action or criticism of Israel in Britain now risks criminal prosecution.
“Keir Starmer is every bit as enslaved as Donald Trump is. It is illegal – it is a crime for which you can be arrested – in Britain right now, criticizing Israel. If you say you’re for Palestine Action, you can be arrested.” he said.
In the UK, the government’s 2025 decision to ban Palestine Action under anti-terror laws has led to mass arrests and a wider crackdown on pro-Palestine expression. Publicly supporting the group, even by holding signs, became a criminal offense, resulting in thousands of arrests, including over 500 people detained at a single London protest in April 2026 alone.
