❗️Syria exports first official oil shipment in 14 years from Tartous Port
Syria exported 600,000 barrels of heavy crude oil today from the port of Tartous under an agreement with a trading company, marking the first officially acknowledged oil export in 14 years, a Syrian energy official told Reuters.
Riyad al-Joubasi, assistant director for oil and gas at the energy ministry, told Reuters the heavy crude was sold to B Serve Energy. B Serve is linked to the global trading firm BB Energy.
According to a ministry statement, the shipment was exported on the tanker Nissos Christiana. Joubasi noted the oil was drawn from several Syrian fields but did not specify which ones.
Syria exported around 380,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2010.
