❗️Sharaa says Israel talks progressing despite ‘great difficulty’
Talks with Israel have not broken down but are continuing with “great difficulty” because Israel insists on maintaining its presence on Syrian territory, Syria’s self-appointed President Ahmad al-Sharaa said, adding that Syria remains “serious” about reaching a security agreement aimed at preserving regional stability.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Sharaa said Israel “is acting with great brutality” and is occupying areas near the Golan, while Damascus has “chosen a diplomatic path” to avoid further escalation.
Regarding relations with Turkiye, he stated that cooperation between the two countries “will shape the future of regional and global security.”
He also said Turkiye has ‘supported’ Syrians throughout 14 years of war, adding that the two nations share “deep historical and geographical ties.”
