 ❗️Israeli firm suspected of meddling in New York & Scotland elections, France says

Israeli firm BlackCore, which France had already suspected of interfering in its March local elections, is also believed to have been involved in electoral meddling in New York City and Scotland, as well as operations in Angola and Togo, France’s disinformation monitoring agency Viginum said Thursday.

At a press conference alongside French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, Viginum chief Marc-Antoine Brillant said technical analysis linked the activity to BlackCore, and the agency later presented a report detailing its alleged global operations.

“This modus operandi was not limited to municipal elections in France,” he said. “It also appears to have ⁠been used to carry out foreign digital interference operations in other countries or regions, such as Angola, Togo, the elections in Scotland, and the 2025 municipal election in New York.”

Brillant added that investigators have not yet determined who commissioned BlackCore’s activities in France.

“Our investigations did not make it possible to identify the sponsor or sponsors, if indeed they exist, behind this foreign digital interference,” he said.

Lecornu said France has asked Israel for clarification regarding BlackCore’s actions, as well as assistance in identifying those who may have orchestrated the campaign.

“I do not doubt for a single instant that if a French private group, from French soil moreover, had engaged in foreign digital interference in Israel, they would have done the same to its ambassador on site,” Lecornu said.
