The incident points to growing vulnerabilities in Israel’s internal surveillance infrastructure during a period of sustained military pressure.
The directorate also reported that at least 60 Israeli companies and organizations, primarily small and medium-sized firms, were targeted in data-wiping attacks, with some losses described as irreversible. Cyber experts say multiple groups exploited outdated security systems, including unpatched firewalls, to gain access, highlighting systemic gaps despite Israel’s reputation for cyber strength.
