Since the start of the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza, White House officials have repeatedly deflected or ignored questions about their role in facilitating the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people

US State Department police violently dragged veteran journalist Sam Husseini from the last news conference of State Secretary Anthony Blinken on 16 January after allegedly “heckled” the outgoing US official.

“You pontificate about a free press!” Husseini told Blinken as the US official hailed a ceasefire announcement made by President Joe Biden on Wednesday. “I am asking questions after being told by [spokesman] Matt Miller that he will not answer my questions.”

Before calling in state department police, Blinken told Husseini and The Grayzone journalist Max Blumenthal to “respect the process,” saying they would have a chance to ask questions.

“Everybody from Amnesty International to the ICJ [International Court of Justice] is saying that Israel is doing genocide and extermination, and you’re telling me to respect the process?” Husseini shot back.
