On 11 November, 2025, Israeli soldiers accused of brutally assaulting a handcuffed Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman torture facility were met with cheers and chants of “heroes” inside Israel’s Supreme Court — a chilling reflection of Israeli society as a whole.

The leaked footage showed sexual and physical abuse, but ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich openly defended the perpetrators.
