US President Donald Trump said Sunday that Washington will “be involved” in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s criminal trial, claiming the Israeli leader has been unfairly targeted by law enforcement authorities.

In an extensive interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Trump reiterated his view that Netanyahu is being unjustly subjected to a corruption trial.

Trump has repeatedly commented on the case in recent months, rejecting the accusations against Netanyahu, who faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. Speaking before the Knesset last month, Trump urged President Isaac Herzog to issue a pardon for Netanyahu.

“We’ll be involved in that to help him out a little bit because I think it’s very unfair,” Trump said.
