Saudi Military Targets UAE Arms Shipments In Central Yemen
This was the second Saudi attack on Yemen within days, and follows multiple warning from Riyadh urging the UAE-backed STC to withdraw from areas it has seized
Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes targeting alleged Emirati arms shipments in the port city of Mukalla in central Yemen on 30 December, as the Riyadh-backed government in the country issued a state of emergency and canceled a defense agreement with the UAE.
BIG: Saudi airstrikes hit Yemen’s Mukalla Port, targeting ships from the UAE carrying armored vehicles and weapons for UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) separatists.
The new attacks come as the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) continues to advance, ignoring recent warnings by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen.
The Saudi-led military coalition said it has launched a “limited military operation” in Hadhramaut, the country’s largest province, where the port of Mukalla is located.
The coalition said it was targeting arms shipments, and urged all civilians to evacuate “until further notice.”
