 Russia Warns Of Tit-For-Tat Response If Washington Breaks Nuclear Moratorium

Trump has ordered the US Department of War to resume nuclear tests for the first time in over 30 years

Russia will respond “accordingly” if the US violates a moratorium on testing nuclear weapons, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on 30 October.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated many times that “if someone abandons the moratorium [on nuclear testing], then Russia will act accordingly,” Peskov stated.

His comments came after US President Donald Trump ordered the Department of War on Wednesday to resume nuclear weapons testing, claiming that “other countries” are carrying out nuclear tests.

“That process will begin immediately,” Trump said.

The US has not tested nuclear weapons since 1992, following legislation passed by Congress. Russia has not tested a nuclear weapon since 1990, before the fall of the Soviet Union.
