 Pro-Israel Tech Firm To Take Control Of US Tiktok Algorithm

US President Trump and Chinese President Xi are close to a deal for Beijing to relinquish control of TikTok in the US

Oracle Corp. will recreate the algorithm and provide data security for a new US version of TikTok following the forthcoming sale of the popular Chinese-owned social media app to US investors, Bloomberg reported on 22 September.

Citing a White House official, the financial news outlet wrote that the arrangement seeks to ensure US control of TikTok’s algorithm, which recommends videos and determines what users in the US see on their feeds.

The US government has demanded that TikTok’s Chinese parent, ByteDance Ltd., sell its stake in the US subsidiary of the app.

In 2024, Congress enacted the “TikTok divest-or-ban” law after Jewish lobby groups became angered by the large numbers of young people in the US viewing and sharing videos of Israel’s mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Access to TikTok was briefly blocked for US users in January as the ban came into effect. However, President Trump issued an extension for a deal to be reached, allowing access to resume after just one day.
