NYPD Opens Office in Israel (2012)
“Veteran New York Police detective Charlie Ben-Naim has moved into an office at the Sharon district police headquarters in Kfar Saba, working in Israel on behalf of the NYPD. The NYPD has had officers stationed in London, Hamburg, Tel Aviv, and Toronto, in recent years as part of the department’s counterterrorism efforts.
According to Al Monitor, which first reported this story, the New York Police Department decided to place Ben Naim, who used to be an Israeli citizen, in Sharon due to the importance of maintaining “daily contact” and “close work relations”
A sign inside the Kfar Saba station reads,
“New York Police Department, the best police department in the world.”
Ben-Naim had been working out of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, but U.S. and Israeli authorities decided to move the NYPD detective to a local Israeli police branch.”
