 New Poll Shows 60 Percent Of US Citizens Back Recognition Of Palestine

Despite supporting Israel’s genocide in Gaza for two years, US officials are now making harsh public criticisms of Tel Aviv’s West Bank annexation plans

A majority of citizens in the US believe that Washington should recognize Palestinian statehood, according to a new poll carried out by Reuters and Ipsos.

This includes 80 percent of Democrats and 41 percent of Republicans. In total, 59 percent support the recognition of Palestine.

Around 60 percent of the respondents said Israeli actions in Gaza were excessive. Thirty-two percent disagreed.

Approximately 51 percent believe US President Donald Trump deserves “significant credit” for his ceasefire plan in Gaza if it works.

“While only one in 20 Democrats approve of Trump’s overall performance as president, one in four said he should get significant credit if the peace holds,” Reuters wrote.
