 Netanyahu Orders ‘Expansion’ Of South Lebanon Occupation As Hezbollah Intensifies Clashes

Dozens of Israeli tanks have been hit by the Lebanese resistance in the last few days as Tel Aviv’s forces have attempted to push deeper

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on 29 March that Tel Aviv will push deeper into south Lebanon in order to expand its ground operation and seize territory in the country’s south, coinciding with heavy clashes between Hezbollah and invading troops.

Netanyahu said he ordered the Israeli army to “further expand the existing security zone” and “fundamentally change the situation” in northern Israeli settlements.

He also said expanding the operation in Lebanon aims to “definitively thwart the [Hezbollah] invasion threat and to push anti-tank missile fire away from our border.”

Tel Aviv had already claimed it thwarted the so-called “Galilee invasion plot” after assassinating top Hezbollah leaders in 2024.

“We are the side that is acting, we are the side that is attacking, we are the side that has the initiative, and we are deep in their territory,” the premier went on to say.
