 Israeli Strike Kills UNIFIL Soldier In South Lebanon

The invading army has repeatedly targeted UN troops in southern Lebanon

A UN peacekeeper from Indonesia was killed on 29 March in south Lebanon after a projectile struck a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) position near Adchit, according to UN statements, as Israel’s invasion of Lebanon continues.

“We do not know the origin of the projectile. We have launched an investigation to determine all of the circumstances,” UNIFIL said.

The Interim Force confirmed the blast occurred at one of its positions, killing one peacekeeper, while Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said at least three of its personnel were wounded in the same incident…

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the incident, stressing that “no one should ever lose their life serving the cause of peace,” warning that attacks on peacekeepers are “grave violations of international humanitarian law and may constitute a war crime.”
