 Israeli Army Chief Dismisses Reservist Generals Over 7 Oct ‘Failures’

Netanyahu refuses to authorize an independent investigation, including into the army’s order to kill its own civilians during the Hamas attack

Several senior Israeli army commanders will be dismissed from reserve service, army chief Eyal Zamir announced on 23 November, citing their failure to prevent the 7 October 2023 Hamas Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The dismissals come following an investigation by the military into its failure “to protect the civilians of the State of Israel” during the Hamas attack on Israeli military bases and settlements…

Three divisional commanders were blamed for their failure to prevent the Hamas attack, including the head of the military intelligence. All three had already resigned from their posts.

Disciplinary actions were also announced against the head of the navy and air force, as well as four other generals and several senior officers.
