Israel Lists Beirut Neighborhoods As ‘Dangerous Areas’ Amid Threats Of War
The US has reportedly given the Lebanese government a deadline of 31 December to disarm Hezbollah
The Israeli Ministry of Defense has reportedly alerted foreign embassies, international organizations, and the Red Cross to what it calls “dangerous areas” in Beirut, Al Jadeed TV reported on 28 November.
The ministry mentioned specific streets in densely populated neighborhoods of the Lebanese capital, including Haret Hreik, Bir Al-Abed, Muawad, Hadath, Al-Mreijeh, and Al-Ruwais neighborhoods, suggesting they could be bombed by Israeli warplanes.
Additional areas mentioned include Tahwitat al-Ghadir, Al-Barakat, Al-Ouzai, Al-Basta al-Tahta, Ras al-Nabaa, and Palestinian refugee camps in Beirut.
Israeli forces have escalated attacks on Lebanon in recent weeks, including a strike in the Haret Hreik neighborhood in Beirut’s southern suburb that killed five people, including Hezbollah’s chief of staff Haytham Tabtabai.
On 19 November, Israeli warplanes bombed the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian Refugee Camp near Saida, killing 13 people, including 11 children gathered in a sports playground.
