Iran’s Ambassador To Saudi Arabia Urges ‘Serious Review’ Of Gulf Ties
The official denied Tehran’s involvement in strikes on Saudi oil facilities, and urged regional states to reduce dependence on non-regional powers
Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, urged a “serious review” of the relations between the Islamic Republic and Gulf Arab states amid the changing regional dynamics caused by the US-Israeli war on Iran, Reuters reported on 15 March.
“It’s a valid question, and the answer may be simple. We are neighbors and we cannot do without each other; we will need a serious review,” Enayati stated.
The ambassador said the war has forced regional governments to reconsider how they manage relations and security arrangements in West Asia.
In written responses to questions from Reuters, he argued that decades of instability stem from “an exclusionary approach [within the region] and an excessive reliance on external powers.”
