A photograph, reportedly taken by an Israeli soldier, has helped confirm disturbing reports that Palestinians are systematically being used by Israel as human shields in Gaza.
The image, shared by the “Israel Genocide Tracker” on X, shows two elderly men, later identified as Ali and Nadi Marouf, bound and stripped to their underwear and forced into a building destroyed by Israeli bombing and artillery fire.
“Materials submitted by soldiers’ friends confess that troops used kidnapped Palestinians, mostly elderly, as human shields on a daily basis,” the account wrote.
“When injured or exhausted, the victims were instructed to walk into designated killing zones to be gunned down by other units.”
Organizers behind the “Israel Genocide Tracker” have since identified those involved and filed a case with the Hind Rajab Foundation against the Kfir Shimshon Battalion for kidnapping Palestinians including Ali and Nadi Marouf, and another elderly man using a crutch, forcing them to serve as human shields, and then executing them in northern Gaza between September and December 2024.
