And theres certainly lots of distrust. Not just between Jolani / HTS and Israel, but more importsntly, Jolani / HTS and the Syrian people.
If Jolani allows Israel to blatantly steal and annex more Syrian land i think he thinks faces encouraging mass Syrian revolt against his regime / government, and he is doing what he thinks is most likely to keep him in power
