 BREAKING | Canada officially recognizes the ‘State of Palestine’

Canada has formally recognized the State of Palestine, citing Israel’s settlement expansion, annexation plans, and devastating war on Gaza as obstacles to a negotiated “Two-State Solution.”

The government said recognition is meant to preserve the possibility of peace, empower the Palestinian Authority (PA), and uphold international law, while stressing it does not legitimize Hamas.

Canada pledged support for reforms in Palestinian governance, elections in 2026, and sustained humanitarian aid into Gaza.
