Azerbaijan, UAE Agree To Expand Strategic Partnership Following Joint Military Drills
A new bilateral framework calls for the two nations to broaden cooperation in defense, trade, and investment
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met on 30 October with Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE, to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers said.
Officials noted that ties have entered a new phase following the September signing of the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Relations between Baku and Abu Dhabi.
The discussion covered coordination inside international organizations and explored new areas of cooperation spanning trade, investment, renewable energy, advanced technology, as well as oil and gas.
Security ties were also in focus. Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov recently met Brigadier General Mohammed Saeed Alsalmi, commander of the UAE Presidential Guard’s Special Operations Forces, to expand military coordination.
Hasanov said ongoing joint activities are “deepening relations across various fields,” according to a Defense Ministry account.
