❗️Infiltration of lone Lebanese man into northern occupied territories sends shockwaves through Israeli security establishment
A daring cross-border breach by a lone Lebanese man has exposed severe intelligence and surveillance failures within the Israeli military apparatus along the southern Lebanese border. According to details compiled by Al Akhbar following the 9 June incident, Hamza Tariq Hammoud, a resident of the frontline village of Markaba, successfully bypassed heavily fortified electronic monitoring systems and military blockades on his own initiative.
Hammoud drove on his motorcycle from Bir al-Abed, in Beirut’s southern suburb, all the way to the south of Lebanon of his own volition.
Wearing military fatigues and armed with a rifle and a knife, Hammoud managed to cross the perimeter near the Ramim ridge in the Upper Galilee before being killed in a sudden firefight. The infiltration has left the Israeli security establishment in a state of total shock, completely shattering their tactical assumptions that the border zone had been rendered impenetrable.
Initial investigations by the Israeli army revealed that Hammoud evaded multiple layers of high-tech observation and ground forces deployed in the highly reinforced sector near the Margaliot settlement. He was ultimately discovered inside an Israeli military vehicle parked near the border fence, underscoring the deep physical penetration achieved during the independent operation.
Israel has attempted to downplay the breach by claiming the infiltrator did not enter residential areas, but military analysts note that the ease with which a single, unbacked civilian traversed hundreds of meters of highly scrutinized terrain signals a profound collapse of Israel’s defensive doctrine in the north.
