Paris has officially banned Israel’s ultra-nationalist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering French territory following global outrage over his treatment of foreign activists abducted from a Gaza-bound aid fleet. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced the direct entry ban on Saturday, declaring that France will not tolerate its nationals being threatened, intimidated, or brutalized by a public official.
“As of today, Itamar Ben-Gvir is banned from entering French territory. This decision follows his unspeakable actions toward French and European citizens who were passengers on the Global Sumud Flotilla,” the French foreign minister announced in a post on X.
The decisive diplomatic move follows the viral circulation of a video proudly promoted by Ben-Gvir himself, which shows him waving an Israeli flag, chanting slogans, and openly taunting zip-tied, blindfolded European and international citizens forced to kneel in tightly packed formations at the port of Ashdod after Israeli naval forces pirated the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters.
