Israel Considering ‘Unprecedented’ Partnership With Syria Against Hezbollah: Report
The Israeli army recently acknowledged it had dropped its goal of disarming Hezbollah, calling it ‘unrealistic’
The Syrian Army, led by former ISIS commander Ahmad al-Sharaa, may become a “partner” with Israel to fight Hezbollah in Lebanon, now that the Israeli army has failed to accomplish its goal of occupying all of south Lebanon on its own, Israeli newspaper Maariv reported on 4 April.
Israel resumed its war on Lebanon on 2 March, after Hezbollah entered the confrontation following 15 months of Israeli ceasefire violations, in parallel with the broader war launched against Iran alongside the US days earlier.
Since then, Israeli forces have unleashed a barbaric bombing campaign, hitting targets across the country, including the capital, Beirut, killing hundreds of civilians, rescue workers, and resistance fighters.
Israel also launched a ground campaign to take the territory of South Lebanon up to the strategic Litani River.
However, Hezbollah fighters have put up stiff resistance on the ground, preventing Israeli troops from penetrating deep into Lebanon and disarming the movement.
