🟦US employers announced 1,206,374 job cuts in 2025, up +58% YoY, the highest since the 2020 Crisis.
➡️This was the 7th highest annual total since 1989.
➡️Excluding 2020, this was the worst year since the 2008 Financial Crisis. Historically, such elevated layoff announcements have only appeared during recessions: 2001, 2008, 2009, 2020, and in the post-recession years of 2002 and 2003.
