❗️European Investment Bank faces formal probe over complicity in Israeli war crimes
The pro-Palestine Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has announced that its complaint against the European Investment Bank (EIB) for alleged complicity in Israeli war crimes has advanced to the formal assessment stage within the bank’s Complaints Mechanism (EIB-CM).
“This development is not merely procedural — it is a political and legal milestone, signaling that a European institution is being forced to reckon with its complicity in grave breaches of international law,” the HRF said in a statement, calling it a “turning point.”
Originally filed on 20 June, the complaint urges the EIB to suspend and investigate over €1 billion ($1.1 billion) in investments linked to Israeli institutions such as Bank Leumi and Electra, both listed by the UN for their role in illegal settlements. HRF said this marks “one of the first legal actions within the EU” directly challenging an EU body’s financial ties to Israeli war crimes.
