❗️ US President Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner fly to Israel
US envoy Steve Witkoff and former presidential advisor Jared Kushner arrived in Israel following the Gaza “ceasefire” agreement, according to the US embassy. Their visit comes as the fragile “ceasefire” faces fresh challenges, with recent Israeli airstrikes killing at least 44 people and prompting renewed tensions.
In a recent 60 Minutes interview, they revealed key turning points in the negotiations, including a required apology from Netanyahu to Qatar and a personal bond between Witkoff and Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya over shared losses. Kushner also argued that Israel has “to find a way to help the Palestinian people thrive and do better.”
Their mission now appears to be twofold: to reinforce US commitments to the truce and pressure Israel to keep promises made under the deal, while navigating recent attacks on Gaza by Israel which have resulted in the killing at least 97 Palestinians since the “ceasefire”, including children.
