‘They are occupying us’
Stefanos Stefanou, head of left-wing AKEL party, has warned of “ghettos” forming in Southern Cyprus due to property sales to Israelis, citing “Zionist schools and synagogues” as part of an Israeli expansion strategy.
“Our country is being taken away from us,” he said at a recent party congress.
A plan years in the making
In August 2023, Israeli newspaper Haaretz ran the article: “The Second Israel? Israelis Are Streaming Into Cyprus to Buy Anything in Sight.”
