Russia Condemns Israeli Strikes On Iran, Rules Out Military Response
The Kremlin reports Putin is receiving ‘real-time’ updates on the situation
During a press briefing in Moscow on 13 June, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia is alarmed by the rapid escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran, and strongly condemns it.
“Russia is concerned about the developments and condemns this sharp escalation,” Peskov stated.
He added that the Russian Foreign Ministry will soon release a detailed statement on the matter, following instructions from President Vladimir Putin.
The Kremlin spokesman also noted that Putin is being kept updated in real time. “President Putin receives real‑time reports on developments in the region through the Russian Defense Ministry, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Foreign Ministry,” according to TASS.
Iran and Russia have a 20-year strategic partnership pact that was signed in January 2025, however, while the agreement mentions cooperation across military, intelligence, and economic fields, it does not include a mutual defense clause.
