The Associated Press spoke to survivors who said Israeli forces first struck a nearby home, then opened fire on crowds gathered around a stuck aid truck. Witnesses say soldiers kept shooting as people fled.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says over 70 Palestinian civilians were gunned down by Israeli soldiers while waiting for food in southern Khan Younis.

“It was a massacre,” said Yousef Nofal, who survived.

At Nasser Hospital, Samaher Meqdad searched for her two brothers and nephew:

“We don’t want flour. We don’t want food. We don’t want anything. Why did they fire at the young people? Why? Aren’t we human beings?”

The footage below shows the aftermath — bodies of starving civilians piled in the street, slumped over carts, riddled with bullets
