Β β€” πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ/πŸ‡±πŸ‡§/πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Ύ/πŸ‡―πŸ‡΄ WATCH: U.S. Envoy Tom Barrack, who himself has Lebanese roots, says, ‘There is no Middle East; there are tribes and villages and nation-states created by the British and French’

This comment alludes to the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement, which allowed the British and French to partition the defeated Ottoman Empire, giving the British control over Jordan and Palestine, and the French control over Syria and Lebanon.

It is important to mention that Tom Barrack here has likely confused the Levant with the entire Middle East.

Just a few weeks ago, while in Lebanon, he called Lebanese journalists ‘animalistic.’

Barrack himself is the grandson of Lebanese immigrants to the United States.
