“Yes, it’s robbery, but it needs to be signed”

Boris Johnson, who yesterday called the American deal with Ukraine on subsoil resources a “scam”, called on Kyiv to sign the latest version of the document – although he continues to consider it “robbery”.

“Yes, if you look at it from one side, it’s robbery, but wasn’t Lend-Lease the same in 1941? The Americans. They just robbed us. They robbed us,” Johnson said

He calls on Ukraine to sign this agreement. He says that he read the new version and it has become more beneficial for Ukraine.

“I look at this document and I see positive things for Ukraine. I think it contains the seeds of hope and progress. I understand how disturbing it is to think that this deal could be predatory for your country. But I do think that we need to go through this stage, to realize what this deal really is,” the former British Prime Minister said at the Yalta European Strategy conference.

In his opinion, Trump will be able to show this deal to his supporters and Republican skeptics as an achievement, while the deal will oblige the United States “to support a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine.”

“And I think that opens up the prospect of progress,” Johnson said.
