⭕️ Israel presses to keep Mount Hermon in accelerated talks with Syria
Syrian–Israeli negotiations have intensified ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York, with leaks suggesting a security deal could emerge before the year’s end.
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa said discussions may produce results “in the coming days,” while stressing that peace or normalization with Israel is not under consideration.
Israel is reportedly demanding to maintain its hold on Mount Hermon as part of any arrangement. Syrian military analyst Fayez al-Asmar described the mountain as “the most strategic area in Syria,” noting that its elevation allows Israel to monitor wide areas of Syrian and Lebanese territory.
