⭕️ Caspian littoral states sign strategic naval cooperation pact
On 8 October, Caspian littoral states Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan signed a comprehensive strategic naval cooperation agreement during the Caspian Sea Naval Commanders’ summit in Saint Petersburg. The pact affirms that only littoral states will manage security in the Caspian Sea, explicitly barring any foreign or extra-regional interference.
Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani represented Tehran at the summit, which included bilateral meetings with Russian, Azerbaijani, and Kazakh naval officials. The agreement reflects a unified commitment to strengthen security coordination and safeguard the Caspian region.
