❗️YouTube and Google accused of silencing Palestine coverage, deleting 700 videos of Israeli war crimes
A detailed investigation by The Intercept reveals that YouTube, owned by Google LLC, has removed hundreds of videos and disabled channels that documented Israeli human rights abuses, while allowing pro-Israel content to remain largely untouched.
According to the report, “more than 700 videos documenting Israeli human rights violations have been deleted,” some of which belonged to three prominent Palestinian human rights groups: Al-Haq, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights.
The deleted videos include a range of content, from investigations such as the analysis of Israel’s killing of American journalist Shireen Abu Aqla, to testimonies from Palestinians detailing torture by Israeli forces, as well as documentaries like The Beach, which tells the story of children killed by an Israeli airstrike while playing by the sea.
The Intercept‘s investigation reveals a pattern of bias against Palestine coverage, showing that these platforms are arguably penalizing Palestinian-narrative material more heavily than material from pro-Israel sources. The investigation found that “YouTube has shown a ready willingness to comply with demands from both the Trump administration and Israel.”
