❗️US-Israeli strikes deliberately target Iran’s most prestigious technical and engineering university
Sharif University of Technology President Masoud Tajrishi confirmed that a US-Israeli strike hit one of the university’s buildings, causing material damage, with no fatalities reported.
According to WANA, the attack targeted the university’s data center, which serves as the core infrastructure for Iran’s national artificial intelligence platform, supporting thousands of systems and research projects since its launch in 2025.
Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s first vice president, said US used a “bunker-buster” bomb on Sharif University, calling it “a symbol of Trump’s madness and ignorance,” adding that Iran’s scientific strength “is not embedded in concrete to be destroyed by bombs.” The US has not commented on the strike.
Sharif University of Technology, often compared to MIT for its role in advancing scientific research in Iran, has previously seen several affiliated professors assassinated over alleged links to the country’s nuclear program.
