❗️UAE-backed RSF accused of turning Sudan hospital into military base
The UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have turned much of Al-Nuhud Hospital in West Kordofan into a military command center and barracks, according to the Sudan Doctors Network. The group says the RSF, which has battled the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) for more than three years, has effectively shut down the hospital’s ability to provide care, even as the city’s population remains in urgent need of medical services.
The claim reflects a broader pattern of militarization of civilian sites by both warring parties, though independent verification is difficult in a conflict marked by misinformation and restricted access.
In a statement, the network said the RSF’s occupation of the hospital violates the protected status of medical facilities and has forced many healthcare workers to flee after being accused of cooperating with the military. Those who remain are unable to meet the needs of patients, leaving the city with severely limited medical services.
The current war has killed thousands and displaced millions, contributing to what the United Nations describes as the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
