❗️Suspect in White House shooting previously worked with CIA, officials say
Newsweek reports that the Afghan national accused of shooting two National Guard members near the White House had previously worked with the CIA, according to comments cited by Fox News Digital. The attack, described by officials as a targeted ambush, left both Guard members, whose names have not been released, in critical condition.
Intelligence sources told Fox that the suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, had connections to several US government entities due to his role with a partner force in Kandahar prior to the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox News Digital that the Biden administration brought Lakanwal to the US in September 2021 based on his prior work with US government agencies, including the CIA, via Operation Allies Welcome, which allowed for those who assisted US forces to enter the country.
