❗️Somaliland expects trade deal with Israel, open to offering mineral rights
Somaliland is expecting to conclude a trade deal with Israel in the near future and is prepared to grant access to valuable mineral resources as part of any agreement.
Speaking to Reuters by video link from Dubai, Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi said that while no bilateral economic agreement has yet been finalized, Somaliland expects to sign “a partnership agreement.”
“At the moment, there is no trade, and there is no investment from Israel. But we are hoping 100% [for] their investment, their trade, and hopefully we will engage with the business people and the government of Israel soon,” he said.
“Somaliland is a very rich country in resources – minerals, oil, gas, marine, in agriculture, energy and other sectors.”
He added that in exchange, Somaliland would seek access to Israeli technology.
