❗️Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has stated that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is prepared to take “full responsibility” in post-war Gaza. This marks his first comment following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
“The Palestinian government, under president Abbas’s directives, has completed all preparations to assume full responsibility in Gaza,” a presidency statement declared on Friday. Responsibilities would include facilitating the return of displaced individuals, managing crossings, providing essential services, and overseeing the reconstruction.
Published by the Palestinian WAFA news agency, the statement reiterated Abbas’s government’s demand for “the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in and full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.”
On Friday, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stated that government institutions were prepared to resume operations and reestablish basic services in Gaza.
