❗️‘Not much sympathy with Israel’ among Iranians
Hamed Mousavi, a political science professor at Tehran University, says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s outreach to the Iranian public is being dismissed outright. “We’re not seeing any protests or unrest in Tehran or other cities,” he told Al Jazeera, noting that few are receptive to messages from a government actively bombing their country.
Mousavi called Netanyahu’s rhetoric “hypocritical,” pointing out Israel’s role in lobbying for harsh US sanctions that continue to harm ordinary Iranians. He added that the latest Israeli strike came at a time when nuclear talks with Washington were making modest progress. “The bombing effectively shut that door,” he said.
