❗️Iran’s Moscow envoy says US negotiating team is internally divided
Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said the US negotiating team in Pakistan-mediated talks with Tehran is not internally coordinated, with contradictory positions between the team and President Trump exposing a lack of unity, IRNA reported on 26 May.
Speaking to Russian newspaper Kommersant, Jalali said “Several proposals have been exchanged, but the reason they have not come to fruition is the approach of President Trump.”
He added that Trump is “only focused on victory and prestige for himself and nothing else,” describing him as the sole decision-maker in the US.
“The problem today with the United States and with President Donald Trump is that he wants to issue instructions. If we were going to accept American directives, then why did we spend nearly five decades resisting and standing firm? We have paid heavy costs for our national independence; naturally, we do not accept diktats,” he said.
