❗️Investigation uncovers Jeffrey Epstein’s efforts to discredit anti-Israel scholars
An investigative report by Drop Site News revealed that Jeffrey Epstein orchestrated smear campaigns in 2006 against political scientists John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt after they published “The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy.” Drop Site News analyzed how pro-Israel lobbying, including groups like AIPAC, shaped US policy in ways counter to American interests, particularly in West Asia.
Epstein actively leveraged his network to circulate talking points discrediting Mearsheimer and Walt, even assisting Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz in spreading an attack piece against them.
The coordinated campaign restricted the scholars’ platform in academia, think tanks, and mainstream media for years, while prompting institutions like the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to cancel or heavily condition their speaking engagements.
Despite Epstein’s 2008 conviction for sex offenses, he maintained significant influence at Harvard, using over $9 million in donations to gain access, office privileges, and sway over faculty until 2018.
His involvement in silencing critics of Israeli lobbying underscores the intersection of elite networks, wealth, and political influence, raising questions about the lengths powerful actors will go to shape discourse and protect their interests.
