Indonesia has barred Israeli gymnasts from entering the country for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship scheduled in Jakarta later this month, citing opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Indonesian gymnastics federation chief Ita Juliati confirmed that the Israeli team “will not be attending.”
Senior legal affairs minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the decision followed objections from religious councils and reflected Indonesia’s long-standing policy of withholding ties until Israel recognizes Palestinian statehood.
