 ❗️Chabad house in Nepal run by Israelis closes amid rising anti-Israel sentiment due to genocide in Gaza

The Chabad house in Kathmandu, a major destination for Israeli backpackers, has closed after 20 years of operation due to growing anti-Israel sentiment, according to Haaretz. Run by Chani and Chezki Lifshitz, the facility attracted around 2,000 guests annually. Lifshitz described escalating pressure from their landlord following the genocide in Gaza, with a final order to vacate the premises within days.

The Chabad house had been a central hub for Israeli travelers, offering a synagogue, restaurants, and luggage storage. The Lifshitzes, both Israeli, were deployed to Kathmandu by the Chabad Lubavitch movement 25 years ago following their ‘service’ in the Israeli military.
